So the branch that actually came down in the storm, the one thick enough to matter, is specifically the one the program will not take.
Storm cleanup is a different animal
The storms that come through the southwest suburbs in July do not politely drop four foot sections. They drop a limb the size of a small tree across a fence line, and it lands in three yards at once. That is a chainsaw job before it is a hauling job, and it is the wrong week to be figuring out how to tie bundles.
We cut the material down where it fell, load it, and take it. That includes limbs well over four inches, sections of trunk, and the shredded fence panel underneath. If a limb is on a structure, a power line, or a roof, that is a tree service or the utility, not us, and we will say so rather than making it worse.
Storm work gets quoted on site because photos taken from a back door do not tell you how much wood is actually in a pile. What we will do is give you a firm number before we start cutting, not after.
Fencing and landscaping debris is not yard waste at all
This trips people up every spring. A pile of old cedar fence panels looks like yard waste but it is construction debris, and it does not go in a Kraft bag or in the yard waste cart. Same with landscape timbers, plastic edging, weed fabric, decorative stone, and old pavers. Dirt and sod are excluded from the Village program by name.
We take fencing by the section, including posts. Posts set in concrete take longer and we price those accordingly, since each one is a dig or a pull rather than a lift. A full perimeter tear out is quoted as a project, and if there is a new fence going in behind it, tell us the installer's date and we will get out ahead of it.
